What it is
Easy-to-moderate walking used as a steady, repeatable conditioning routine, with recovery kept in view.
Why we created it
A comfortable, repeatable workload lets you notice how your dog responds before anything changes.
Goal
Sustainable fitness from activity your dog already tolerates well.
Before you begin
You’ll need
- A regular flat or gently varied route.
- Water for your dog.
- A check of heat and ground surface before you set off.
What you’ll do
Your first session
- Start with a comfortable amount of activity your dog already manages.
- Keep the route and workload the same across sessions.
- Watch their movement and willingness, and note how they seem later that day and the next day.
- Count this within your dog’s total activity, not on top of walks, hikes or fetch.
Things to notice
- Gait and willingness.
- Later and next-day recovery.
- Paw condition after rough or hot surfaces.
When to stop or get help
- Signs of heat illness, pain or limping, unusual intolerance or a paw injury.
- Dogs with breathing problems (including flat-faced breeds) need veterinary guidance first.
- Any feeding or activity instructions from your veterinarian still apply.
About this guide
Intended for adult, otherwise healthy dogs. There is no universal session length, and this guide doesn’t set a personal target.
Progress gradually and pause if your dog shows discomfort or reluctance.
Adapted into plain language from Nara’s prepared protocol material. It is general information, not a diagnosis or veterinary prescription, and it doesn’t report trial results.
